Twitter History

Twitter is a top draw micro-blogging site with a social networking interface. In fact, it deftly connects with face book for operating its interface called tweeter. It’s a messaging service that gives you the license to write as many as 140 characters and use expressions as well. Through twitter blog you can read and send updates to friends, family and colleague and even read their response or feedback. Let’s take a synoptic look at their history.

San Francisco has a pod casting firm called Odeo. Twitter began as a small research and development project here and it was being overseen by three gentlemen named Evan Williams, Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey. Twitter, in its formative stages was being used by the employees of Odeo who found the twitter resources to be quite a big help.

In April 2007, Twitter.Inc got enmeshed into our imagination and since then it is doing pleasantly. It was headed by Jack Dorsey and only later in 2008 has he been replaced as CEO by Evan Williams.

The Japanese have been very loyal followers of twitter and hence twitter announced its special service for Japan in the month of April in the year 2008. This is rather strange to note as the premium service is provided in English and the twitter resources are also bent towards serving in English. Certain change of stances later, today Japanese is the second most popular language on twitter. Japan sustains twitter through overdose of advertising.

Ruby on Rails technology is behind this ever expanding blog. Starling, a pure-ruby persistent queue server is being used for the purpose of handling messages. The programming language being used by twitter is called Kestrel. There are speculations that downtime issues may cause twitter to shift from Scala to Java or PHP.
